Cowboy boots comeback?

Cowboy boots comeback??

Being a fan of country music, I can't forget that legendary country lynard skynard "sweet home alabama" song, or Glen Campbell "southern nights"? or even actual Tim McGraw, Leanne Rhymes, Faith Hill, and why not? Taylor Swift (even though every one knows that she doesn't really do country, but she tries to do the style). If you're a fan of rock & roll music you probably have noticed before that country music has influenced classic rock in the american history a lot, and the link between these two is definitely southern country/rock music, the one elvis used to play, transforming from time to time to Nirvana. Rock & roll has been a huge influence in the industry, inspiring amazing great designers to develop signature edgy items like the leather jacket or even classic jeans. So if rock has given us so much , and considering that the cowboy style has so much of a different, simple, all american angle to offer, it's no rare thing to see from time to time fashion daring to turn the down non-glamourous side of style and turning it upside down bringing it to the urban streets of new york, paris and london.

I was at the mall the other day and saw a bunch of cowboy boots in different modalities, from high up to the knee to really just like brown flats with the cowboy tip. I remember seeing the spring 2010 fashion shows back in September fashion week, and D&G was one of the brands that based almost its entire collection in a "southern edge", that's when I realized that the boots were on again, but didn't really know how long it would take for the news to settle. While looking at some of those pairs I remembered my own pair of boots that I got back in 2005, when I was on winter vacation in Italy. From that time I decided to wear them every now and then, but it wasn't until now that I see someone within one kilometer of radius wearing another pair of cowboy boots. Anyways, it is true that it was through the industry that I realized how cool and edgy cowboy boots were back when I was 15 in the first place, but I got kinda sad knowing that after four years of feeling so edgy while wearing them everyone will be wearing them now...

Oh so Coco

So I'm a big fan of Coco Rocha, and I was reading some stuff at her blog the other day, and it surprised me what I found; she has decided to start her own line!!, and she asked her readers to give her advice on what should be an ideal name for it. It just seemed so cool to me that she cares so much about her followers/readers, and tries to keep in touch through twitter, her blog, and some funny youtube videos with fellow friends behati prinsloo and Jessica Stam, you can also find some videos of her hosting some fashion events for E!, I'd be cool if the next generation of celebrities, would be super models, anyways.. she seems really cool, and I read some posts in the fashionspot of people who have met her that said that she is really nice. It's nice to see that someone who's in the top of the world actually realizes that, is thank full for it, and doesn't let it affect her personality. For the followers I post her link to her blog:

Burberry... Going off to Milan

CONCLUDING LONDON

Burberry

Loved it!, Breathless, fashionista as God is, exactly got my point (the one I pointed out in the last post)

Amazing Christopher Bailey has come out a little bit out of the tipical, Burberry was no longer a classic shaped/color monogamy. STILL kept the elegance, the soul of the brand, that very brit wave of .. young but classic, chic but relaxed; and definitely took those jerseys to another vibrant fresh level. We saw the dimensions of the pieces, filled with rich fabric, we get the sense of equilibrium when we contemplate the outfits, the colors diverted the clothes. We see these "emblematic" pieces glowing out of this essence, cause each peace almost can't handle being so simple and fabulous at the same time. Loved it, breathless, is how you should describe spring burberry.

BCBG MAX AZRIA

photo from thefashioncult.com

The best word that comes to my mind to describe the sparkle of the show is maybe... predictable. As it went on, of course Max Azria didn’t fail us, and gave us some very cute and perfect short dresses, as always before, about them you just can't go wrong with BCBG. I do have to say that the long dresses were beautiful, very classic chic. We saw some pieces with very vivid colours, but a great deal of the collection was dark, black. With exception of a few very beautiful impressive pieces, the rest of the collection, as said before was unrelevant.

I think we need a little bit more creativity, Oscar de la Renta said that he knew what his market was about, and knew what they wanted, it's the same people that has been there all along his career, his collection is beautiful, well he IS Oscar de la Renta, chances are he WILL do, among some other classic labels, something you'll want to dress in your wedding day. But, seriously people, there are a bunch of designers out there, and it seems that they all want to be accepted playing it safe. Before, I thought that I didn't like 100% Fall Winter Marc Jacobs, it was beautiful but not something you can dress on the street I used to say... Now I think that flips like that is what we need to see, a whole new era is made of those kinds of turns. I think that every label is made of an essence that has to be kept alive cause it's the soul of the industry, and I'm definitely not saying that we should go back to the eighties crazynesss (funky colors and funny shapes that sometimes were simply uncomfortable), I'm simply suggesting creativity out of those terribly artistic minds, that we know are capable of doing so much more.

Zac Posen

Very colorful! , Vivid colors!, like it has been quoted before, it's became a young woman iconic couture. For the first time in Zac Posen history, we start looping at a young man’s Collection (style.com), since he’s always been characterized by being really classic. I think I understand Zac's evolution: in my seeing, he's a very talented designer, capable of impressive, shocking and aesthetic significant pieces of clothing. Also, logically, if he's capable of such things, he can also definitely put up a simple, geometrical show. I think, all these years, he's tried to gain a certain level of trust among the fashionistas by putting up classic shows, and believe me he was damn good at it, but finally we see him pulling some original sign style. the shapes are perfect, if you yourself like design, you can really appreciate the geometrical dimensions that make this such an harmonic... spring harmonic, collection. What I admire the most in Zac, is that he is really daring when he makes his collections, even in the classic shows, there are some crazy pieces, but it is he same man's creativeness than make some other pieces just perfect.

It's Fashion week NY, and everyone who's into the fashion industry is very excited about it. First of all I want talk about Fashion's Night out, for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a shopping party night, in which a lot of fashion and retail stores keep their doors open 'till late, it seems that the fashion capital it's been or about to be rocked out every day of this week. There are a bunch of parties going on and stuff like that. By the way, I really liked the commemorative shirts. Since the main objective of Fashion Week is for the designers to illustrate us in their new accomplishments, we will today talk about Alexander Wang.

The Alexander Wang 2010 Spring Show took place yesterday, and I'm honestly having a hard time finding out how I feel about it. The runway started with kind of like a sport look, most of the clothes were minimalists (colors and shapes) and square, and some others were playful with stripes and shapes. Some of them very well put together, balanced, but I consider that in a few of the outfits, the pieces didn’t agree with each ot

her, if that's possible. I think the collection has generally played it safe with the colors (black and gray were used a lot), I thought they would be more vivid, since it’s a spring collection, but Alexander among other designers have decided to break that propensity this year, of course, not falling into the extremes; and I’m really happy for that, black and gray have a lot more to offer in May than people think. I also noticed some north american folk indian pieces like brown leather vests and jackets.

Among the things that I liked, there’s this white dress, that, for me, stands in a perfect equilibrium, it transmits effortless simplicity, that simplicity that is interpreted as high class. I also liked the leather shorts, and again we see the eighties come back, with strong shoulders.

Coco Rocha dancing for Jean Paul Gaultier

I found this video the other day, it's from last year, and just thought it was hilarious. Coco had already danced before at Jean Paul Gaultier Fall-Winter 2007, and she did it again. Jean Paul Gaultier is really fun and relaxed, and I think we definitely see this kind of energy reflected in his designs. And of course we love Coco Rocha, and so the designers, cause she's got an awesome personality, that can truly bring something to the table. And she's funny.

THE leather jacket

The leather jacket

So I recently got myself a new leather jacket and I'm totally in love with it, even if it's like a 100 degrees outside my house, I'm seriously thinking about turning the air conditioner on so I can wear it.

Yes, I know, everyone's talking about it... well we'll talk some more.

The thing about the leather jacket, is that it’s a classic, very characteristic style item, it has survived and co-lived hand by hand with fashion, without really being the outshine of it, that’s why a leather jacket will NEVER be an old trend. There are girls that are wearing their mom/dad’s jacket, and some others that are desperate to find a good vintage one. Why is that? It’s very practical, black goes with everything, and it has that special energy. Some people say that you need to have certain coolness/edge or personality to pull this item off, I think it’s all about the attitude. If Rock & Roll is part of your style, then the leather jacket is a must-have, if it’s not then it can add your look some relaxed chic glance.

We see Jessica Stam and Maryna Linchuk wearing them this year and Gisele bundchen last year… Now we see that the leather jacket has been rocking the model world for a few years now, we just hope that celebrities won’t star wearing them day and night, cause we don’t want it to get too popular… it may take that really particular style look away.

If you want to go for the classic biker look, then grab some dark color skinny jeans, boots, a dark scarf and some Ray Ban. But we’ll have to try and play with different shapes and forms, maybe we could make this style a little more individual and different

Rodarte

So I was watching the other day the Rodarte fashion show for the fall and I LOVED IT, congratulations to the Mulleavy designers, the electric colors used for the dresses are just mood boosters. The shapes are amazing and don't even get me started on the boots, they kinda remind me of the high chanel boots launched on 2006 I think? , but with an edgy tough touch. I'm not sure if the boots were also made as well as the shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte, shown below.
The jackets look so cool, specially the white-ish/ gray-ish one here in the picture, kinda like classic "biker" looking.

I'm not sure if we could work this futurist look in the streets, but it is certainly beautiful, and of all the runways I've watched SO FAR, Rodarte was the one to pull this kind of dress out the best way.

The fashion Art

I've decided to start the blog with a description of what I'm gonna be discussing here. As we all expect I'm gonna be talking about fashion, but I want to make something clear first.

Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma, fashion is something that comes after style.- John Fairchild
Fashion is made to become unfashionable .- Gabrielle Chanel

By these we mean that having your own style is gonna define you, and not fashion per se.

but yet once you've found your style, fashion is a way of expressing it (one's individuality); what we're seeing in every season fashion shows are not just pieces of shallow fabric put together, but the expressions of an artist inspiration on what he/she sees in the world. They're art pieces waiting to be appreciated and/or judged.

We are gonna judge them and appreciate them, we all may have different opinions about the same thing, that's why we could make this blog so rich and full of content.
