Fashion's Nigh out

For those of you, lucky people, who are in one of the "it" cities, specially NYC tonight, I envy you big time!. I envy the red carpet, the wild parties, the window shopping, the actual shopping, but most of all the experience that you will be able to have!, being in the middle of such big arty, iconic, economic, energizing, and epic event. Go out and celebrate and then write about it!

Well.. I'm still stuck here, in the middle of nowhere, and most of the time my wifi connection is the only peek of the current fashion art stuff that goes on in the world, so yeah, I decided to show you another collection I liked for spring 2011, I mean what better way to start Fashion week?
Organic by John Patrick is an awesome collection, like the Vogue review described, it's a collection that transmits a Sunday vibe; the way I see it, John Patrick brought all of these vintage attempts to actual solidification. I love it, and I bought a couple of oxfords a little time ago so it inspired me.

Pretty Little Liars

Well I really like this new show called Pretty Little Liars, the story as far as I know is based on the books written by Sara Shepard; in some aspects so far, you could say it's a little different than most teenage shows, since the main problem introduced at the beginning is concerning a missing person, and possibly a murder. The show keeps you hooked (me) due to the numerous secrets that everyone has and the one they share. I don't know but it's sort of like a Desperate Housewives gone high school, in the way that they all lost a friend in mysterious circumstances. Anyways you should watch it and give me your opinion.
You know how the outfit of a character is supposed to tell you a lot about it? well in this case I happen to agree in every character in the show. The one's style I like the most is Aria, I like the bohemian, the layers, and the warm colors she's always wearing.

Also, does anyone know who made that leather jacket? I think it's a Mike & Chris but I'm not sure.. if someone knows please tell. Who's character's style is your favorite?

Puerto Vallarta

okay if you don't wanna read it all, just jump to the SURF part, it really was the highlight of my trip

I just got back from a family vacation in Puerto Vallarta, for you who don't know what that is, Puerto Vallarta is a nice beach here in México, well that's what they say, in my opinion, the beach is not that nice, if you want to go to a nice beach, nothing beats the Caribbean, Cancun is your best choice. But anyways I enjoyed the trip, the hotel was nice, and there's no down side of all included, right?.
This was the view from my hotel room, I took the pictures with my mac, since I forgot my camera.. how could I?
Even thought the all included days were nice and relaxing the highlight of my trip was Sayulita, which is a beach near puerto vallarta that's not actually in the bay, so the waves hit the beach perfectly, what makes it an ideal surfing location. Since my firsts visits to some California's beaches I had been excited about taking a surfing lesson sometime, so knowing that I was going to have a gamily vacation in Puerto Vallarta I did my fair research and found this "Sayulita" beach's reviews online.

SURF
When we got to "Sayulita" beach it was much nicer that Puerto's beach, I saw a beautiful boy sitting in what seemed a tropical outdoors office with a bunch of surfboard lined down, and I didn't thought twice about heading in that direction. My mom had settled in a little tent by the end of the beach that sold coconut water, and after agreeing to what he was gonna pay for my lesson my dad decided to join her.
I decided to prepare and amuse myself by asking questions to this 25 year old red blooded/tall/blonde/muscular/tanned/hippie/Tennessee boy, I later found out after a small talk that he had ended up moving there haunting the surfing waves. I was ready to have a lesson from him in no time, but then when we'd agreed that I was in fact going to take the lesson he called the real instructor in, biggest dissappointment of my life when I saw an old/bald/fat/young wannabe man who said I should "cover my head with my arms to cover my pretty face in case I fell cause the rocks were really near the surface"; okay, that sounds cruel, but it really broke my perfect surfing lesson fantasy. Anyways, while I was taking my land lesson, and watching the people surfing, I got a little freaked out, was it gonna be hard? but then I saw a woman with what seemed her three daughters (two of then about 10 years old or less) approach my new surf coach and told him they would like to get a lesson later when I had finished mine, that gave me courage. When we hit the water he turned out to be a pretty good teacher, he made small talk, he was not so well spoken but I got the pointers he wanted to teach, and there I was, the first attempt was amazing, I actually stood up and rode the wave, he was like "whaat?", beginners luck I guess, since the three following attempts I managed to fall on my butt in the water, maybe because I had to swim back like 20 meters to catch a new wave and my arms didn't seem to obey after a while. But I think I got the idea by the end of my lesson.

TEQUILA
After this awesome workout I fell asleep in the car, then we stopped by a town named Tequila, guess what they make over there?, yeah I guess I don't have to tell you, but I can tell you that now I'm very illustrated on the Tequila-making industry and fabrication, the kinds, the production, etc. My parents bought a couple of bottles to bring them back as gifts, and after that we headed back home. Oh and I have to mention that after my surfing lesson I discovered that I hadn't put enough sun block on the back of my legs, and given that that was the most exposed part of my skin, no wonder why it got all red, I got over it and I'm happy with my tan.

SoCa

It's been some time now that I've been enjoying my summer vacation, and last week I had the chance to visit some relatives in California. I had a great time at Newport beach and the Santa Monica pier, riding the small roller coaster with my ten year old niece. By the time we found ourselves at 12:0o at night at a taco bell at Beverly Boulevard I had the chance to see some girls about my age coming in, I'll describe their dressing code as bohemian indie rock, I remember one of them was wearing de-colored shorts, black oxfords, a yellow sleeveless extra large shirt with a black tank top underneath, and a black hat.. as much normal as this may seem to some of you, I remember thinking to myself "I wish people in small cities, like the one where I live were as expressive in the way they dress as this", I'm not saying that they should be edgy when they're not, it's just that I've found a ton of girls that wouldn't wear something cause it wouldn't blend with the rest of the society. Even when I have my fair number of polo shirts, I get tired of seeing them everyday at my school.

On the other hand of having a great time, the news about mexican discrimination came to my mind more than once. My parents have had the privilege of being successful professionals in my country, the country that I love (despite all of the social problems we've suffered), that giving me the chance of receiving a good education, and having a comfortable life with no needs of emigrating to another country. But not all of us have the same "luck", it's an irony to think that one of my grandpas made a living by going over there to work, sending enough money for my mom and her sibling to go have a fair life too, and my other grandpa being son of a spanish immigrant. at the end we're all people, and I think those who discriminate anyone who's different from them, due to ignorance, have and will always have a poor life, and they're the ones who I feel sorry for.

back to basics

Let's go back to basics. my favorite accessory are sunglasses (probably my only one), right now and since some time ago I'm in love with my ray ban wayfarer. I love the vibe they transmit, that james dean attitude; they've become such and emblematic icon of music, time, and perspective. I wasn't expecting the fact that they were created as a man accessory, and I'm very glad that Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn were such strong female figures to wear them in the early 60's.
I don't like it when Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie wear them.. not so much that I don't like these girls (although I don't a little), but mostly because they take that "vibe" I talk about, and make it seem like other piece of wardrobe overrated, overly expensive, and "in", just like fashion, cause what is fashion, if not an overrated campaign that you'll follow every season no matter what it promotes, when you don't have style?.

So here's for style (EXPRESSING the self) and not for fashion (being just another follower)!, for controlling and deciding what fashion brings to us and not being another fashion victim!, =)

Dsquared2

I really love the down-to-the-street idea they've been showing in past collections. I feel the street culture is really influenced by alternative tendencies, rock indie bands, and pop stars that are trying to break the tradition, taking hold of new, rebel and more creative bias. Dsquared has found a way to transmit this. This is one of those collections young people rock big time.

I love how the western vibe is bending with rock street style once again in some ensembles in the runway, I think it's awesome, this is called country by the way... it's been there for a long time XD and has inspired a lot... Was it D&G who brought western back?
what do you think about this collection? what was your favorite one?

song of the day: aeh.. what the heck.. TIK TOK BY KEISHA.. and yeah! I can't stop listening to it... p.s. p diddy is not your friend

20 different attributes : I'm only good at being young

I turned 20 two days ago, and I thought about a lot of things, my mom asked to herself.. where did the time go that I didn't notice? and it made me realize how fast everything goes by and sometimes we don't get to do and be everything we'd like to. So in the first minutes of my 20`s I wished to God to make me a better person and I promised myself to spend more time with family and friends and doing the things I love most: art, music, painting, creating.

If people get to fulfill themselves doing what they love, they see the world from a better perspective, so please try not to think about the things that bring you down, instead go out there and do things you love to do. Try to be better every day and if you don't have anything nice to say to other people then don't say anything.

btw, I've been spending a lot of time arranging outfits, and this is the one I just finished, not sure how the belt and the scarf got there but whatever... the application is really fun

Moi Je Joue

Well. I just got home from the school, I'm in the middle of final projects that are due this week, and this same week I'll be starting finals.

In the middle of craziness and late nights, you can imagine how in this moment I wish I could be this Miss Dior Cherie commercial girl, I really love this ad. Going around Paris jumping and eating cake, looking fabulous, riding bicycles, looking fabulous, eating cake, and of course hanging out with the guy I like, which by the way raised me from the death today when he came and said hello and gave me a hug cause it was a while since we last talked. I really hope he's not gay.

The song is called "Moi je joue" by Brigitte Bardot

The beautiful Life

An amazing show was made last year, it was called "the Beautiful Life", produced by Ashton Kutcher, and basically it's main plot was about young super model's lives.

Sadly only two episodes were aired, and then the show was cancelled due to bad rating. I already watched the episodes and I think it has great potential, I loved the casting.

See and Judge for yourself, if you like it please subscribe, and maybe the CW will agree on giving it another chance.

Sleepless in Seattle

Well, like I told you before, I had the opportunity of visiting Seattle like three weeks ago, which I loved! Like you know it's a big city but you kinda get the vibe that you're not so much in the city, It was cold and while I was in the Space Needle (or noodle, like some girl called it), you could feel the cold cold breeze in your face.

I also had the chance of visiting Microsoft, one of my friend's brother works there developing software.. pretty impressing, huh? well he and some of his colleagues assured us that not all of them, Microsoft workers, were geeks haha.. well while I was walking inside I thought of how cool it'd be to work there, what a discrepancy, isn't it? I dream of working in the fashion industry, but it would be so cool to work for Microsoft, well it's true, the products are totally different, but these two industries make unbelievably cool and smart stuff, and pretty =) and they need committed, innovative people. damn, will I get in some sort of trouble if I keep comparing Microsoft to the Fashion Industry?

I don't know how but one of the days I ended up in a chinese tea store, the girls were absolutely nice, I said Wo shi Mo-xi-ge ren, or at least that's the pronunciation.. which means I'm mexican, nice huh? =) i mean gimme a break it's been like two years since I dropped my chinese courses due to lack of space in my brain software, I'm telling you, learning like 200 characters for each exam, all of them ALIKE, it's not as easy as you'd think well anyways that was more than enough for the chinese girls to give us like 1 liter of tea divided in to like 15 tiny tiny tea cups, we were there for more than an hour.

enough with frivolities, let's talk fashion street style!, OMG sometimes I felt like I was in Milan. I saw a bunch of really stylish people, I have to say that I loved the street style, but I also have to say that there were not a lot of difference between the people's style. They all were one way street.. (most of them) of course every now and then you got to see cool different outfits. I guess what I liked the most was the attitude worn with the clothes =), I went shopping one day and there some things I liked, but to buy something I find myself in need of probably 3 days to find what I'm looking for, I always have a clear picture in my mind of what I want, and if it's not exactly what I want I won't pay for it. I liked an Armani dress, which I couldn't get, I wasn't so sure about the colors, but I think I regret not getting it now, I ended up with some white ripped jeans, a blue beach dress, a Calvin Klein shirt, and another shirt for my mom.

I'm underage, it was kinda of sad the fact that we couldn't get into any club, so we stayed at the hotel, played with cards, watched movies, talked all night.. I know right? We could be on tour rock stars or supermodels in Paris..

That's a picture of me and Seattle, it was taken from the Space Noodle.

Couture modeling

Considering myself as a loyal follower of the fashion world as the whole that represents, you know... from designers to models to writers, yeah yeah the whole Jessica, Coco, abbey lee, hilary, gemma, kate, gisele, all of them. Well last weekend I had the opportunity to admire some local fashion event, this consisted of people (models) standing for a really long time in the same position..

Do you see any resemblance? wait... do I have to pay them for posting a pic?

if Karl Lagerfeld called me and said they he needed me to lead the Paris runway I would be the first to say yes... see where I'm going??

I guess this is not Paris, even though that girl from MNTM, what's her name again? she's from somewhere around... but it's kinda cool to see the local fashion initiative, and it takes some braveness to stand there for a long time while people are looking at you... what do you think??

Stuck in Seattle Airport

Yes, that's right, I'm stuck in Seattle airport maybe for the rest of the night, I'm having a starbucks and listening to Aerosmith and both of them are like a little peace of heaven in the middle of a sucky situation: long long story...

I promise I'll tell you and I'll upload the whole trip on the next post. Well long story short, it was a school trip.

Thanks to my totally idiotic non prepared trip directors (notice that I'm being very careful with the world I'm saying), yes, we lost our flight back. Our departure was at one, and of course we were supposed to be here like one hour before that, but somehow, the people that had all of our come tickets (we hadn't seen them, and belived blindly in whatever the directors said), thought that if we got there 10 minutes earlier, we would have been fine.

Right now I'm stuck in in Seattle airport, I'm hungry, my feet are soar from walking all day long, and my head hurts, although writing about my problems has definetely helped.

It's a very complicated situation, you see, we were 14 people, and 7 of them did catch the flight cause they had the ticket confirmation or pin or something like that, so there are 7 post adolescents supossedly dependent on some school techers, alone in texas for the night (that's the place we were supossed to spend the night before hitting the road back home).
By the way, the other 6 people I'm with ... I had never seen or had a conversation with them before the trip, 2 of them teachers, and all of the others are male specimens, they make me laugh like hell but come on! I don't usually make friends that easily and that fast.

by the way I loved Seattle.

well, i'll talk to you later... I don't have much time cause this is not my computer =/.

Thank god I didn't spend all of my money buying clothes, cause right now I have enough to live for two days at the airport

Charlotte Casiraghi

The other day I was visiting the Fashion Spot, as I very commonly do when I generally find myself with some free time and lap top at my hands, and I found a threat about Charlotte Casiraghi, who is one of the people I look up to. For those of you who don’t know who she is, she’s princess of Monaco. I actually don’t consider myself a fan of royal families, beyond thinking that Harry and William are cute, but who doesn’t?

I think I started to interest in Charlotte’s life since I found out that she practiced my favorite sport some years ago, equestrian jumping, and that she actually wanted to become a professional (pretty cool, huh?), I later found out that she spoke 5 languages, studied literature and piano, and didn't crawl for attention of the media. I use to see her among the crowds and some other royals in Chanel fashion shows, and reading the posts in the Fashion spot, made me want to write about her. Basically, a lot of people say that she lost her fashion sence when she grew out of her teen years, and additionally she also lost some of her beauty.

wait.. what? Can you believe that while most of us were on our awkward stage (very awkward in my case), some people say that those years were the peak of her beauty?

From my point of view, I'm glad that she's trying out new things, and got tired of living and sleeping in couture. I've always loved the formal
gown in her, but hey she's just a girl like you and me, if she wants to wear jeans and flip flops, let her wear jeans and flip flops!,
I don't know why, but I get the impression, that she doesn't put her mind a lot into what she's wearing, sometimes she looks very average, sometimes she looks very edgy, sometimes she manages to look awkward, but most of the times, as I said before, dressed up she looks like effortless elegant and flawless, which is the thing I think made her capture the attention among some other royals, she became a criticizable fashion icon.

My theory is that before, (her being a public figure, and considering she was young) her style was a little more controlled?? maybe??, maybe by her mother, or whatever royal clothing aid she had; and now like most of us young people, likes to explore new styles.

These are some pics (first two) taken second half of last year, and some taken 5 years ago (last two), do you think she lost her je ne sais quoi? What I do have to criticize is that she's got that horrible posture, finally I understand my mother's frustration and why she's always bugging me about... Stand up straight!!

YOU've NeveR SeEn a PRETTy GIrl LOOk so TouGH

Bess collection autumn winter 2009
So before having a long day yesterday of going to school, dragging my parents to the red cross locations at 7 pm, and helping pack stuff that was sent to Haiti; I decided to take a rain check today, I was supposed to go to my music class in the morning, but instead I'm writing about combat boots (cause my friend, let's call her PC asked me to... btw those are her initials, not cause of my computer friend... since I have a Mac... bad joke).

She's had a pair of those since I met her in high school, and I've always liked them in her, but it wasn't until some time ago that I took my likeness to a higher level and started looking up some potential future prospects, in the pursuit of deciding if combat boots really go with me or is just another fierce hat that you like but wouldn't wear. SInce I've also been wanting to post some model street style here I go...

These are some I liked:

Dr. Martens

Not to mention models lov'em...

girly.. fashion spot http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f89/models-street-style-2-a-76026-141.html, anne gaby Odiele

Abbey Lee Kershaw http://www.modelinia.com/slideshows/fashion--models-off-duty/117#/2 I don't know how to describe it... with the little black dress that it seems she has under that rope I think they would look super duper cool.

Well, They are a very edgy cool piece of wardrobe, they are amazing for winter, they are very comfortable and they look amazing. I see them and I can't help but hear Prince's YOU'VE NEVER SEEN A PRETTY GIRL LOOK SO TOUGH.

What do you think about combat boots? High, short, heels combat boots?

Livin' ThE Dream

I was reading my friend's blog and then I got inspired and wanted you guys to know my plans. In about 5 months, me and my bff, (since she said it first, sue me too!), are planning on moving to fabulous Spain... of course, like you would expect all the excitement and happiness is making my stomach ache.

In the other hand I'm scared like hEll, like she mentioned before in her blog, we have not been well trained by our dear parents to live on our own... there's a bunch of thing we gotta learn before arriving to the world that's expecting us, like how to wash our clothes, or make food, or clean up the bathroom, or move around the city using the subway.. =) y
es yes if there's a word to describe us... I don't wanna say it. In addition to that, I get scared of just picturing myself studying at 4:00 am, cause yes, school over there is wa
y harder, but then another picture comes and cleans up the mess, like me walking in a beautiful european street on a saturday afternoon, or go to the theater, or even read a book in a "cafe", and of course very very occasionally go out clubbing, partying, etc... ;) Luckily for us, at least here we are straight As students.

We've been getting together the past weeks to decide which part of Spain would be the most adequate (party, dorms, people, transportation) for us. And what about the University prestige for example? who cares?!, google "top ten universities in Spain". But wait.. don't think we are so irresponsible.. we actually found out that one in our list made the top ten.

If you have had any experience like this I'd like to know how you went through all this.

Visit my bff's blog, I promise she's way funnier than me.

During Boring class

Well.. in my free time I like to draw and when I started getting in to the fashion industry I used to draw some of the outfits that I saw on the runway.. But with time I started to get a little more creative ...
I can't say that I'm very proud of this.. specially the colors, I just draw whatever came to mind, and I was more worried about getting the main idea and didn't pay any attention to ANYTHING... It kinda reminds me the kindergarden drawings... haha... anyway... comment..

ANd this other one has a better story, or probably sadder, =/ a friend of mine who's an architecture student, had an assignment about alice in wonderland and she had to prepare some of the outfits, at that moment I thought that me studying business was so boring... and in my economy's class I draw this:

I liked this one a lot more than the last one. I hope next time I can impress you guys by doing an actual good sketch =)
